It's for reasons like this that I get so irritated at those incessantly screeching folks who insist that if you're not always running the absolute latest version of macOS then you're definitely gonna get hacked through some kind of security vulnerability. As though Apple is doing any of the right things to make macOS secure, and known 0-days don't exist.

No, they're just locking it down against power users and third party developers. And it's not hard to avoid malware on older systems. And then they can't think of single legit reason why someone might not want to upgrade to the latest macOS? Not a single one?
