Tested: TOMZN TOQ7-125/2P 125A 2-Pole 220V Night Light Series Automatic Transfer Switch
In preparation for running my equipment from a mixture of power stations and mains power, I’ve been investigating automatic transfer switches. My last post looked at two types of EARU switches which performed quite differently. This time, I decided to give the similar-looking, but slightly cheaper, TOMZN Night Light Series TOQ7-125/2P switch a try. Unboxing The unit arrives in a cardboard box with blue, white and teal colours. Interestingly, the product tagline implores the user to “open the age of home smart care”. The box has a line-art drawing of the unit. The unit is part of the “Night Light Series” of products. The label on the side indicates this product was manufactured in May 2026, making it very fresh stock. Internally, the unit is shrink-wrapped and packed inside foam ends which suspend the switch from the sides of the box, ensuring safe transport. Included in the box is the instruction manual, four pre-crimped wires for connection of power to the control circuit and the unit. The unit is visually similar to the EARU 125A ATS but in a “dark theme”, but there are a few differences which include the terminal covers which guards against stray wires. Similarly, there seems to be a QC label covering a port on the side of the unit, likely used in manufacturing. Another improvement is the detachable terminal blocks which feature retaining screws to prevent themselves from potentially working loose due to vibration. Otherwise, the connections are identical. The unit mounts onto a DIN rail with a single clip. Just like other ATSes, there is a claim in the user manual that the switching time is 8ms. But then, the main technical table quotes a switching time is <50ms. The specifications aren’t very accurate either – it suggests the 2P version is only available in 10/20/25A ratings, but with a name of 125A. Because of this, I can’t trust the specifications fully.
