White Sox infielder Miguel Vargas named to American League All-Star team
Chicago White Sox infielder Miguel Vargas has been named to his first MLB All-Star Game.
Vargas has appeared in 87 games for the White Sox so far this season, and currently ranks 10th in MLB in home runs with 20 and 16th with 56 RBI’s on the year. He also has an OPS of .848, and is just outside the top-10 in that category.
The talented infielder has been one of Chicago’s most consistent players throughout the season, and has been off to a solid start in the month of July, with a home run and four RBI’s so far this month. He is second on the team in home runs and leads the team in RBI’s, and he has 11 stolen bases, which is tied for the team lead with Sam Antonacci.
Vargas will be the lone representative for the White Sox in the All-Star Game, and is joined by four other reserve infielders who have been named to the team for the first time in their careers. Division rivals Travis Bazzana of the Cleveland Guardians and Kevin McGonigle of the Detroit Tigers are also headed to Philadelphia for the game, along with Ben Rice of the New York Yankees and Nick Kurtz of the Athletics.
The 2026 MLB All-Star Game will take place on Tuesday, July 14 at 7 p.m., and the game will air on Fox.
