Why No One Developer Can Win the AI Race

​ The conventional narrative warns us of the dangers of very powerful AI being in the hands of one corporation. The fear is that a developer might gain such a lead over everyone else that they are impossible to catch. Fortunately, the nature of AI technology and development argues against that possibility. The reason has to do with the need for developers to release their top models in order to make a profit, and the relative ease by which these models can soon thereafter be cloned by either proprietary or
