How to copy into the ChromeOS clipboard from the Linux shell command line?

How can I copy into the ChromeOS clipboard, from the Linux "penguin" shell command line (without using mouse highlighting, which yes, still does work, but is awkward for longer copying)?

My goal is to be able to paste what I copied using CTRL+V inside Chrome.

It was possible in the past to do
