Should the startup idea come from personal pain? (I will not promote)

I'm a CS student shipping projects, but I want to build something that actually matters I've heard the advice: solve your own problems or find a niche with real needs. Problem is, I don't have major pain points, and every idea I come up with already exists. I'm building anyway, but I want to work on something useful instead of just grinding out resume projects. But I'm stuck. Is it that I haven't been exposed to enough industries, or am I just not seeing how to differentiate? How do you actually find proble
