Thanks so much for this, it was lovely! The section on deciduous forests was especially wonderful, I had no idea.
But I think there’s one important gap. Violet! As a child I always thought Violet in ROYGBIV was some sort of misunderstanding, because you could make purple by mixing red and blue, so there couldn’t be a shade of purple on the rainbow.
Then one day as an adult I saw a rainbow where the violet portion was incredibly intense. The Color From Outer Space! The violet was real! The experience of the color was very different from purple, and I now think it’s a great crime that there are any crayons labeled violet – it’s worth the search to get a full eyeballful of true violet, but the search is made difficult because almost all of them are actually purple.
