How to get a HDR output on Linux?
I tested with GNOME Shell on:
• Debian 13 with Intel iGPU
• Ubuntu 26.04 with Nvidia GPU
In both cases, if I enable HDR (High Dynamic Range) then the colors are washed out.
My screen do support HDR, as shown when running games on Windows 11.
I know that HDR require support from several layers: software that output HDR content, graphic drivers that must support it, screen profiles that need to be adjusted, etc.
Is there a way to have a working HDR output on a Debian-based distribution?
Do some other distros or Desktop Environments have better support of HDR?
In other words, what is the state of Linux HDR support in June 2026?
