I will argue that Hackers was actually surprisingly accurate if you strip off the cheesy stuff they had to wrap it in to make it work on a screen - they use war-dialling (these days it would be war-driving), dumpster diving, and social engineering to gather passwords and other sensitive information and the "boss fight" is a coordinated DDOS attack.

Swap the payphones for public wifi and a lot of it would hold up today - hell even some of the fashions are coming back...
