Every time I see these articles, I have to call out my former employer. They were an electronics/hobbyist retailer but the staff were REQUIRED to physically smash returned products. So the dumpster out back which should have been a treasure trove was just more e-waste destined to leach heavy metals into some landfill.

It was Jaycar. Jaycar, and the evil policies of their lord and master, Gary Johnston. The same Gary Johnston who told us to stop complaining because "liquid mercury isn't dangerous." I shit you not. I met some really interesting people through that job but I sure as hell don't miss the job itself. Hopefully they move in a better direction now that Gary is gone.
